Titans of Industry, 1865-1900
As major industries were consolidated into monopolies by increasingly powerful individuals a very small number of men came to control such enormously profitable enterprise as steel, oil, railroads, meat packing, banking, and finance. Among these were Jay Gould, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and John D. Rockefeller.
