Club-Banging goodness

God I can't stop playing jams. Troy that seems like a fairly basic concept what do you mean? you say. Well lately I have realized I am tired of compromising on just about everything. Dont take shitty classes if you don't want to take them buy great food and ultimately listen to the best possible music all the damn time. Let me define my definition of great music: the shit that you can't help but shake your ass/pressing repeat only seems natural/it makes you feel goood. well here it is my uncompromised mix for ya turkeys out there: dance dance dance
I like songs like this that remind you that all you need is two good samples to make a banger.
these jams will be dropping more frequently around here so if you like what you hear please stop back later this week for mo.

Bronx Bum

I could hardly believe this when I first read it on yahoo sports, but there is a man that just canceled his season tickets because of off season moves by the Yankees. The argument has some merit but Johnny rag arm is gone and if we slip we can flex the buck later on. here is the letter and the response by the Yankees ticket office:
XXXX,
I am sorry for the delay in responding to the many emails about making the payment on my Yankees account. The last time I spoke to you I believe I was inquiring about the proccess of upgrading to a full season ticket plan. Unfortunately, right after that I learned of the granderson trade and that made me begin to have some doubts.

As long as I have been a Yankee fan, I have always had the belief that the Yankees would do their best to put the best possible team on the field to attempt to win a championship. After an amazing season in which the Yankees brought the trophy back home, sadly it seems they hav lost their focus on winning another championship this year.

The list of transgressions includes bringing in players who have already proven they are capable of succeeding in ny ( nick Johnson and Javier vasquez), destroying the farm system that was finally being built back up to aquire older players who have had mediocre careers (granderson) and today the signing of winn in order to save some money instead of bringing back one of the most productive players as well as a great teammate, Johnny Damon was the final straw.

I held out hope for so long, praying cashman would make a move to show me he cares about putting together a team that can win this year, but today proved that the Boss's son are more concerned with a profit margin than winning championships, something their father would never be accused of.

I am a middle school teacher in the Bronx with a budget as well, but since I've moved out here I've always found a way to get ticket packages because of the entertaining product the Yankees put on the field, but also because I knew that the Yankees would do what was in their power to put a championship caliber team on the field. Even in 2008, when I knew the team was rebuilding, I bought a plan because I knew they were making a sacrifice to improve their chances the following year.

This offseason has not instilled this same confidence, so I regretfully must inform you that I am cancelling my ticket plan. I am no longer a ticket package holder for the Yankees, but I remain what I will always be, I lifelong Yankee fan.

Thank you for your help and service throughout the years XXXX. Hopefully, we will be in touch sooner than later.
Best regards,
XXX XXXX
And the committed and logical Yankees ticket representative tries to talk some sense into our passionate emailer:
XXXX,

I would hate to see you cancel your season ticket plan on the basis of some moves that you feel make the team weaker. I on the other hand feel that the moves Brian Cashman made will make the team just as competitive as they were in 2009. While Nick Johnson is an injury prone player, he does not have any chronic injuries Yankees fans should be concerned with. He has shown throughout his career that he can consistently get on base and I think he will flourish in the number 2 spot in the order behind Jeter and in front of Teixeira. His On Base Percentage last year was .426 which was 20 points higher than Derek Jeter’s .406 which led the team. I think it’s fair to say that last time Javier Vasquez was a Yankee he did underachieve. However, his role in 2010 is very different than what his role was in 2004. He is not expected to be the ace of the staff this year and is slotted to pitch in the 3rd or 4th spot in the rotation. He is a lock to give the Yankees 200+ innings and last year had an ERA of 2.87. He even finished in 4th place in NL Cy Young voting. Not bad for a middle of the rotation guy. As far as Curtis Granderson is concerned, I would say he has had far from a mediocre career. He was an All-Star last year and even scored the winning run in the game. In 2007 and 2008 he was in the top 3 in the AL in runs scored. In addition to his stellar play on the field, he is said to be a great clubhouse presence. What you lose in Johnny Damon clubhouse wise, you get back with Curtis Granderson. He is also very active in the community. While Randy Winn does not have the bat that Damon has, he is an above average outfielder and excellent on the bases. The Yankees have a plan and part of that plan is sticking to a budget this year so next year they can spend on what they see as a better free agent class. Hopefully you will still be a season ticket holder by then.

Sincerely,

XXXX

What a bunch of Phonies

Some sad news to report on, Wednesday January, 27th our beloved JD Salinger pasted away from old age. He was 91. He had been living seclusivly in his New Hampshire home for 50 years. He wrote, most famously, A Cather in the Rye published in 1951 and it became almost instantly an American best-seller and rightly so. A timeless work that stood for many teens, as well as, myself as a manifesto of sorts. I can remember my first time reading "Cather" in my 11th grade, Mr. Hotze's, English class with a bunch of clowns and took Holden as my own. Hotze analyzed the book brilliantly. I couldn't imagine hearing anyone elses opinion on the novel then from, the unmarried french/English/theater instructor how had been at Moeller for 40 plus years. ...not to mention he almost convinced me to act in the school play for gods sake... What was you first Holden experience? i would be interested to know

"If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth."

Willy P x Hot Dogs

Sorry Calipari -

Tuesday January 26, 2010 was a big night for Gamecocks everywhere. I knew it would be from the time I arrived at Colonial Life Arena. Students waiting to get in to the game lined all the way out to the street, and by 9:00 all of the 18,600 seats were filled. If you've ever experienced a Carolina basketball game, you know that when Devan Downey gets going, so does the Garnet Army. And once that place gets loud, Number 2 only gets better. The game was tight all the way to halftime, with the 'Cocks staying in there with everything John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, and the honorable John Calipari tried. Wall was essentially shut down by the Gamecocks, as Kentucky had no answer for Downey. In the last ten minutes, Carolina decided to finish it off,
playing relentless defense with offensive output like we've never (butalways?) seen from Devan. He was unbelieveable. With 5 minutes remaining and the game clearly not over, the announcer continued to repeat "Stay off the court at the end of the game". We were up by 4, and unfortunately for him, the sports section of that day's Daily Gamecock (for which our good friend Jon Battaglia writes) contained the criteria required for a team to justify storming the court. Check. With 30 seconds left and Ramon Galloway sinking the final free throws and pouring salt on the wounds of the Mr.'s Wall and Calipari, Downey motioned all of us down to share the victory with him on the court and we obliged. I hustled down to join Devan Downey, the rest of the team, the Garnet Army, and my fellow Carolinians, on the wood floors under the scoreboard that read "Carolina 68 - Kentucky 62". Standing in the mob, sweaty, loud and raucus, we turned our attention to the band, sang the alma mater with the team, and concluded our celebration. It
was without doubt one of the greatest moments of my collegiate career and will go down as one of the most storied wins in Gamecock sports history

the case of the number 1's

Congrats to the Gamecocks, the University of South Carolina, for knocking off number 1 UK Wildcats. Our boy Willy P was there and got to storm the court and party with Devan Downey, who is basically dirty. A former Bearcat too. The Gamecocks rely on the services of Downey nightly in the SEC. the man is 5'9 and can flat out ball. But the question is what is the issue with being number one nowadays? every team in college basketball has now been beaten at least one time, UK being the last to fall, and makes me think that maybe it is the nature of the game. I have to believe this because even when I play a pickup game there are a lot of variables that go into winning a game of ball, shot selection, teammate capabilities, mentality, the opposing team might be on fire, and dumb turnovers. I think that many times teams need to take a lose to bring a squad back to earth. there hasn't been a team in the last 30 some years to go undefeated. Larry Bird's 79 Indiana State Sycamore's lost to Magic Johnson's Spartties in the NCAA finals. what does this say about contemporary basketball teams? even NBA teams? is the competition that stiff is because the game has gone international is because ballers have lost a mental competitiveness? we see Lebron put a show on every night, sell millions of sneakers and gear, yeah he is unreal, but he hasn't won jack...not to mention the fact players having off court/field issues (Agent Zero guns and gambling tyraids). Yeah Wilt the Stilt claimed to rail over 20k women andDikembe Mutombo's tag line was "who wants to sex Mutombo?" upon entering a room, but they had a respect for the game.
I think this has something to say about our current times as a generation. For the most part people frankly don't give a fuck. Our generation is dominated by general low life's Edward Cullin, Paris Hilton, and Lil' Wayne. We hate going to classes we don't understand the world around them, as only seen through the television and facebook, we can't conceptualize hard work. the kids that do believe in hard work and look forward to a future after college are outcasts and misunderstood. I need to do some explaining at this point, as you have seen before on this blog, I raise up the likes of Mike Tyson Rasheed Wallace Charles Barkley and the Yankees, all of whom have had their fair share of controversy in the past, but they are self aware of what they are and can only be what they are. The world has the estranged ideals for humans with exceptional talents, to be the superhuman off the sports field as well, yet in the end we all do dumb shit.

PS. I hate the jersey pull

Hip-Hop is so criminal

One of my favorite MLB cancers is back at it. Milton Bradley, now a dodger, owes a chicago land for missed rent. MLB contracts, unlike NFL ones, are guanteed. The bad news: so are condo leases. Bradley's getting sued by his Chicago landlord for failing to pay up.

Everyone knew following his latest controversy-plagued season that Bradley's days in Chicago were over. Maybe that's why he stopped paying rent in October, two months before he was actually traded.

His $15,000-a-month luxury condo on Chicago's Magnificent Mile has been empty since he "abandoned the Leased Premises on or about Oct. 12, 2009," according to the lawsuit. The realty company sent him an invoice in November, but he hasn't cut a check yet. So they're suing him for rent, late fees and interest, and plan to keep charging him for the life of the lease. deadspin.com

De La Soul 20th anniversary mixtape

Ok, I am little late on this, it was De La Soul's 20th last November. I think back when I heard the 3 feet High and Rising cassette, brought to you by the one and only Nick Faust, and heard 3 is a magic number sample on The Magic Number, fairly ground breaking sample, due the complexity in the sample itself. A culture was derived, spun off, and inspired the rest of boom bap hip hop in the east during the 90's. Well in order to commemorate Mick Boogie and Terry Urban put a cheese ball mixtape together. Download here. Phife diggy makes a nice apperence as well as Big Pooh from Little Brother, beats are okay and obviously heavily sampled from the one and only Maseo from De La.

Elevated Pleasures(NBAvsNews)

Some of the best TV today can be found on the NBA tv channel and NBA on TNT. The pregame shows are priceless. Filled with biased opinions synacal jokes and mockery of popular topics in sports and current events. A sense of realism can be felt while viewing. While other tv station and programs denounce these aspects, although it is an inherent aspect of television journalism, such as FOX and CNN, and can not be denied, NBA TV and TNT hold some of the finest anchors and news broadcasters we know today. Sir Charles Barkley, C Webb, Enrie Johnson, Craig Sager, Reggie Miller, Brent Barry, Ahmad Rashad, and Eric Snow are the most notable to reign supreme over today's cheese ball anchors, such as, Wolf Blitzer, Mike Huckabee, Sean Hannity, just to name a few. I feel as though the NBA guys are the last hope for American identity to really persevere, the real no spin zone.

Not to mention the issues they cover. Yeah, it is a sports show, but they cover current events, political ideals and show raw footage of people acting like people as opposed to our omnipresent news channels that wish to portray a particular ideal or display a slighted view on the actuality of scenarios depending on their interpretation. I think their is a philosophy out there that studies this, its called hermeneutics (the philosophy of interpretation).

I found some gems and figured I would relay them to the Hot Dog faithful out there. These guys make me happy

HOLY SHIT

In a stunning move, the Reds have landed prized Cuban defector Aroldis Chapman, outbidding several other Major League clubs that were in the running for the left-handed pitcher.

Major League sources told MLB.com that Chapman's deal is likely to be worth $25 million over five years, with an option for a sixth year that could push the value of the contract to $30 million. Payment would likely be spread out over several years to minimize the financial hit.

The Reds have scheduled a press conference for 12 p.m. ET Monday. Some details appear to still need finalizing, and Chapman must also take a physical.

The Reds' interest in the 22-year-old first surfaced on Friday, and word of the signing was first reported by Yahoo Sports on Sunday. Cincinnati was one of many to see Chapman work out on Dec. 15 in Houston. He is believed to throw a fastball that has reached as high as 100 mph on the radar gun.

There are several reasons why the Chapman deal is a shocker. First, the small-market Reds outbid deeper pocketed clubs, including the Blue Jays, Angels and Red Sox, who were the first to bid with an initial $15.5 million offer in early December. Toronto reportedly offered him $23 million. The Marlins also reportedly offered him a deal in the $16 million range.

Secondly, the Reds have barely registered any vital signs on the Hot Stove scene all winter. The team's payroll inflexibility prevented it from offering arbitration-eligible outfielder Jonny Gomes a contract. Veteran third baseman Scott Rolen restructured his 2010 contract to go from $11 million to $6 million so the Reds could better retain some of their other high-salaried players. Rolen's new deal also added two more guaranteed years at $6.5 million each.

Reports have indicated that Chapman is far from polished, but he could give the Reds a very dynamic rotation should he debut in the Majors during 2010. Cincinnati already has young pitchers Johnny Cueto and Homer Bailey -- both of whom finished 2009 strong. Another young arm, Edinson Volquez, is rehabilitating from elbow reconstruction surgery and won't likely be ready until midseason at the earliest. The Reds also have back-to-back 15-game winner Bronson Arroyo and Aaron Harang, who has won 16 games twice in his career.

Because he pitched his entire career in the isolated Communist nation of Cuba, few have seen Chapman pitch. He made two starts for his country in the 2009 World Baseball Classic last spring.

A message for comment was left with Reds general manager Walt Jocketty on Sunday afternoon. Messages were also left with Chapman's agent, Randy Hendricks. He joined the agency of Randy and Alan Hendricks after he dismissed fledgling agent Edwin Mejia, who helped Chapman establish residency in Andorra after he defected from the Cuban National Team in July.

Dirty Birds

After the NY Jets defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in a not to surprising finish to the Bengals season. I found myself watching the Ravens, a fellow AFC North division foe, play some inspired ball Sunday against the hated Patriots. I had already liked Ray Rice and Ed Reed, but the Ravens are just as raw as they come. Just a bunch of doods out there fucking kids up. I like the Ravens in the playoffs this year and also gotta love the Jets to make a run. I support Ray Rice for a couple of reasons, Rutgers boy, second he just runs hard, could I say harder than AP, different styles. Come to think of it the Bmore Ravens love being Ravens I dont really think any of the key members want to be publicly traded and feel a sense of pride in being a Raven. I like that.

Now lets think realistically, what teams will really make the big game? Chargers? Colts? Cowboys? Jets?

I think it is a toss up between the wild cards and the top seeds, but I like the Saints to play the Ravens in a perfect world.

OMG

I am officially a Lil Wayne hater for life. I don't care how hot some of his songs are or how sick his metaphors are. He jacks lines like no ones business. 'keep em poppin like Orel Redenbocker' was used on a RZA/Bobby Digital track "Holocaust". hardly good party music and plus his swagger is terrible.

Enevatable Vegtable returns

After over approximately 1200 miles of travel in the past month, driving home after fall semster and back and a trip to Chicago, I have had a lot time to think. I have evaluated myself and realized I was a wierdo during that first semester here in North Carolina. I decided to go back to basics and return to what I really loved, hip hop NBA NHL MLB and stayin fly, this new era on the hot dog blog will be dedicated to the celebration of life.
After a freak accident at UNCW, that affected me more than I thought, a student, that was closely related to our good friend Peter, pasted away. So many times do we decide in a day to be lazy and not take advantage of all the great opportunities around us. This event has inspired me to just that; to fiercely be individually me and do what I want.
Enough of the soapbox here is an update in photos of my break:home for the holladaysChicago for NYEPete's PadHome from the hollidays

NWO (New World Outlook.)

Hello and Welcome back to the Hot Dog Blog,

I have been on hiatus in the mild climates of Ohio/Illinois/North Carolina. After a long winter break I have returned with new enthusiausm and a camera to contribute to the blog. I am hoping to get more folks involved i.e. guest blogs and such. And now instead of just lame vintage photos of Hell's Angels I will be focusing more on whats going on in my life and funny stuff. The idea is to put my life into a scrapbook of sorts and distribute accordingly. so with my camera and new musical influence I want to ask for input from vistors to improve the quality of material here on the Hot Dog HQ. thanks and again welcome back...
